For high school senior Joshua, the help he’s received from his tutor and Cluster in the last few years has been invaluable, especially in his college application process.
Joshua, a senior at Steinmetz College Prep High School, started at Cluster Tutoring in the 5th grade and has been studying with tutor Bob Martin since his sophomore year. During that time, they’ve worked on preparation for the ACT test, his college entrance essays, and scholarship applications.
“I think we work well together,” Bob said. “He’s willing to do whatever comes up. Joshua is a great young man who really wants to be successful.”
Joshua wants to study mechanical engineering in college. He has been accepted at six colleges so far, and his current top choice is National Louis University. He’s saving some money for college now by working for the last two years at White Castle.
Bob has had five students in his 13 years of tutoring at Cluster. His past students also have gone on to college, including his most recent student who is now at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Joshua said he appreciates the resources available at Cluster. “Anything you need, you’ll find it here,” he said. “The computers really come in handy.
“There’s a lot of help here,” Joshua said. “It’s not just homework help. It’s help for college and how to be successful in life.
“They really care about you here,” Joshua added.
