Learning Edge Student Awarded Scholarship in Memory of Beloved Tutor

At St. Catherine – St. Lucy School’s end-of-year awards assembly in June, a Learning Edge student was awarded a very special honor: Skylar, a rising 3rd grader, was given the Dave Holmes Memorial Scholarship.

Skylar is an extremely motivated student and hard worker. She works with tutor Lisa Sorenson. “Skylar is always organized, has her homework ready, and she is present and attentive,” said Lisa. “What’s more, Skylar is eager to connect with the other students and seemed to take advantage of being a part of the tutoring community.”

The Dave Holmes Memorial Scholarship is named for a beloved member of our Learning Edge community. Dave was a 15-year tutor, a former board member, and the founder of our tutoring extension that takes place at St. Catherine – St. Lucy school. Skylar’s parents and Learning Edge staff were in attendance to celebrate Skylar as she accepted the award. The scholarship will cover Skylar’s tuition through 8th grade.

Congratulations, Skylar, on a well-deserved honor.
